Do I need a Solicitor?

Yes. You will need a solicitor or conveyancer to oversee the sale and purchase.

Can I transfer my current mortgage deal?

This is called porting and may be an option depending on your lender and conditions of your current deal. If you are able to port, you will still need to complete the standard application process.

Do I need to pay Stamp Duty again?

 Stamp duty is paid on all transactions over £125,000 (data correct January 2026)
